Author is using the developmental state as possible means of rising of several Central and Eastern European countries in struggling Europe with aging and decreasing population. Business Models of services provided out of Developing into Developed countries adopted not only to logistics and IT services, but also to Health services can be the recipe for a new deal between West and East.
Author’s opinion is that the state definitely should influence and orient its citizens for preserving and developing their health. The life and health is the biggest, most valuable resource of a nation or state. The preserving and development of health should be the part of constitution of a developmental state. In the learning and healthy society the development of knowledge and health should be the major issue of developmental state and its citizens. If we speak about reforms, it can’t be only the question of better quality of care, but also how to orient citizens for developing and preserving their health. The question is how to inform in time the citizens about consequences of destroying their health, and how to motivate them to behave healthy way, before it is becoming too costly to save them!
He also expresses his opinion on Europe needing new innovative and creative approaches, while writing that: “Europe needs new fuel as it is the only continent, where the population is decreasing and aging the fastest way. European Union with common currency and free movement of goods and manpower is a good base for larger market and competitiveness, but the advantages of expansion of borders of European Union from West into more East should be further explored and utilized. New influx of creativity and innovation reforming old structures is at need. New innovative business models should be created based on mutual interests.”
The new challenges, like the analogue-digital-IT conversion will keep coming. In Europe the population is decreasing and aging. The classical sources of energy will slowly disappear. The environmental changes are challenging again and again all of us. But most importantly the message of this book should be that creating values is giving meaning to our lives.
