Miklós Csala, Full Professor at Semmelweis University, was born in Budapest, Hungary. He graduated as a Doctor of Medicine from Semmelweis University in Budapest and was promptly offered a research position at the University. He completed his doctoral research under the supervision of József Mandl and obtained his PhD in molecular medicine from the Doctoral School of Semmelweis University. He is a habilitated doctor at Semmelweis University and a Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (DSc). He has been the head of the Department of Molecular Biology since 2020. Professor Csala is a dedicated educator who has been teaching medical chemistry, biochemistry, molecular cell biology, and pathobiochemistry for more than three decades. He has won the Faculty of Medicine's Teaching Award six times, based on student votes, as well as the Excellence in Teaching Award and the Excellence in Doctoral Teaching Award. He has spent extended periods and several shorter periods in the UK and Italy on research fellowships. His research focuses on tumor cell signaling, drug resistance mechanisms, and lipid metabolism.
