Szabolcs Sipeki, associate professor at the Department of Molecular Biology, Semmelweis University, was born in Budapest, Hungary. He graduated as a Doctor of Medicine from Semmelweis University of Medicine. During his undergraduate studies, he was greatly influenced by László Buday, who sparked his interest in biochemistry and inspired him to pursue a career in molecular sciences. He undertook doctoral studies under the supervision of Anna Faragó and obtained a PhD in molecular medicine from the Doctoral School of Semmelweis University. He worked for two years as a postdoctoral fellow at Cancer Research UK in London (the world's largest cancer research organization) under the supervision of Peter J. Parker. He mainly studied tyrosine kinase signaling pathways and the function of protein kinase C in relation to tumor metastasis and diabetes, and during his research, he mastered advanced molecular biology and protein analysis techniques.
